Overview
- Through its internship program, the OPEC Fund gives students from all academic backgrounds the chance to work for a multinational organization.
- The Internship Program, which lasts for three to six months, aims to: 1) Offer a framework to support students assigned to any OPEC Fund department so that the emphasis is kept on enhancing the student’s experience 2) Offer an immersive experience so that students can gain first-hand knowledge of working for an international organization; and 3) Give pupils the chance to comprehend the OPEC Fund’s vision, mission, and associated values.
- Depending on their skills and interests, as well as the needs of the department, interns are assigned to various departments and units
- The internship program provides opportunities to concentrate on one or more of the following areas: operations in the public sector, private sector, and trade finance, operations in the financial sector, risk management, services in strategic planning and economics, internal audit, operations in human resources, administration, communication, law, and information technology.
Interns may be given the following types of tasks:
- writing documents,
- compiling data,
- assisting staff members with their daily tasks, and
- conducting research.
Criteria for eligibility
- The applicant must be between the ages of 19 and 25 and enrolled in either a graduate school or an undergraduate program with at least two years under their belt. Alternately, candidates may be recent graduates who received their degrees no more than a year prior to the application deadline.
Candidates must:
- well-versed in English.
- Having knowledge of a second language, such as French, Spanish, or Arabic, is advantageous;
- Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity,
- proficiency with common software products (such as Microsoft Office), and
- a strong interest in the activities of the OPEC Fund (Integrity, Empowerment, Excellence, Innovation, Community).

Applicants need to provide:
- the electronic application;
- an academic resume (CV);
- a genuine letter of confirmation from a university or school attesting that the applicant is or was an undergraduate student, or a copy of their university diploma or its equivalent;
- A brief English statement (between 150 and 250 words) describing their reasons for applying,
- as well as a copy of their most recent university transcripts with their cumulative GPA or equivalent.

- Candidates who are selected must be able to show a current Austrian health or medical insurance policy, or a similar document attesting to full medical coverage for the duration of the program.
